Import individual planes or objects of AUTOCAD to 3D Studio Max

When we want to model a building and have the same planes, we can use to do the modeling on them.

To do this we have to import them into 3D Studio Max, but sometimes we can be with the disadvantage that they are grouped into a single object, making its handling when modified.

For this to happen we can try the following solution:

In AutoCAD, we placed each object we want to modify individually in a separate layer.

For example, you place the plant in a building facade layer and another, and then imported into 3D Studio Max. This will get you to turn the elevation of the facade so that it is vertical, the plant remains horizontal.

   Import layered planes

To import the drawings in layers:

1 - Press the Button Aplication on the top bar, which is the one with the logo of 3D Studio Max
 , then Import > Import.

2 - In the pop file seek autocad where we have plans and we click on Open

3 - In the window Autocad DWG / DXF Import Options select the second tab Layers.

4 - We set the second point Select from list

5 - We selected the layers you want to import and click OK .

Objects appear in the horizontal plane, but with the distinction of being independent depending on the layer to which they belonged in the AutoCAD file.

This is one of the uses that can give the command Import 3D Studio Max, but can be used to import any type of object in AUTOCAD.

I hope you have been helpful and not forget that if you have any questions, concerns, comments, suggestions, etc. do not hesitate to comment, try to help where we can.
