Drawing a perpendicular line in AUTOCAD

In AutoCAD, when we draw a line that is perpendicular to another, if we have activated the benchmarks for perpendicular lines, we have a problem, especially if the lines are oblique.

If our line is exactly perpendicular Autocad need to show us the exact reference point where both lines should be cut.

To do this we have several options:

Enable baseline perpendicular

If you right click the mouse on any of the icons in the status bar and choose "Parameters ..." window will appear "Drafting Settings".

On the "Object Snap" we must check the "Object Snap On (F3)" and "Perpendicular".

After marking accept and close the window.

From now on when we draw a line and we have already marked the starting point, if we bring the cursor to another line near the point where it would intersect perpendicularly the following icon will appear that will facilitate the path of the endpoint:

This method has the disadvantage of having to leave the reference activated perpendicular, sometimes being a nuisance when we do not have too many reference points on. To solve the second method we use the context menu.

Use the context menu

If you only want to change the reference point perpendicular to a line have the option to choose the context menu of the command line.

To do this, when we have marked the starting point of the line and we have to indicate the end point, right click the mouse anywhere on the drawing window while holding down the shift key or SHIFT.

In the drop down menu will appear choose "Perpendicular". This will activate the benchmark for perpendicular lines, but only for the current line. Finallizarla to the reference point will be disabled.

Run the command "per"

Another method that can follow if you just want to activate the reference line is perpendicular to use the "per".

Once we have marked the starting point of the line and we are looking where to set the end point that is perpendicular to another, enter the keyboard command "per".

When you draw near the end of the new line to the other will appear automatically the exact point of intersection angles between them using the command:

I hope you have been helpful and not forget that if you have any questions, concerns, comments, suggestions, etc. do not hesitate to comment, try to help where we can.
